Everything else in a wardrobe gets checked in a mirror during the day. A hat does not. You put it on in the morning, glance once, and spend the next ten hours as the only person who cannot see it.
That gap is why headwear gets bought badly. On a screen the decision comes down to the front panel. The parts that decide whether a hat is still in rotation six months later are the ones you only ever feel.

Sweatband
Stitched in, never glued. It has to move sweat instead of holding it against skin. Glued bands lift at the corners after a season, and the lifted edge is what starts digging into your forehead.

Brim core
One crease and it is done. The plastic or fiber insert holding the curve. A thin core creases permanently the first time the hat gets sat on, and it never comes back.

Knit gauge and recovery
Stretch the cuff wide, let go, and watch. It either comes back to its original width or it stays loose for the rest of its life. Anything that fails does not get an order placed against it.
